Best of the Best Smoothie Bowls

You all probably know from my insta pics and recent post that I pretty much love eating thick, creamy smoothies with a spoon from a bowl {or a big cup} and making a mindful meal out of them. Doing so makes me slow down, chew longer and avoid a tummy ache from slurping the deliciousness down too quickly which tends to happen when I make one in a glass on the go. Since I have heard from many of you {keep the feedback coming... I LOVE it!} that you'd like a post with more smoothie bowl recipes to get you started, I have gathered my favorite smoothie bowl recipes from my favorite bloggers around the web to share with you! There's something for everyone, whether low sugar, paleo, banana or nut free is your thing, you'll find a delicious combo of fruits, veggies and protein to infuse your body with only the good stuff. 131 Main Kale Salad Copycat

I have been meaning to make a version of this kale salad forever now. For those who are reading that aren't local, 131 Main is a super yummy, kind of expensive restaurant that serves the best kale salad and beet-based veggie burger you've ever had. Really. We {Pure Barre LKN girls!} get this pretty much every single time we go and we tell everyone else to get it too. It's that good. But, it's not always easy to make it to the restaurant every time you crave the kale, which is often. So, I finally bought some curly kale {on sale!} and went to work. Oh and I went above and beyond and made it organic, vegan and gluten free because dairy and gluten aren't the best on digestion {read: bloating and pimples... at best 😝} and because I love you and want you all to be healthy and strong and not eat toxins all day.

Green Bliss Smoothie

This green smoothie has super powers. It can fix a broken heart. No, really. It can. At least according to Ayurveda, an ancient healing science that originated in India where it's been practiced for at least 5,000 years, it can. Ayurveda's basic principle is to prevent and treat illness by maintaining balance in the body and mind through proper lifestyle and diet. So, instead of throwing a prescription to eliminate a symptom and calling it a day, Ayurveda practitioners work to find the root of the problem and fix that so all symptoms naturally dissipate. Doesn't seem like such a bad idea, does it?

Easy Citrus Beet Salad

These days, I have less and less desire to cook dinner. With the sunshine beckoning me to head outside, soak up some of its vitamin D-liciousness and play with my babies, it's harder and harder to justify making a complicated recipe that takes all night and requires turning the oven on. Luckily, the seasonal produce lends such freshness and flavor that many nights my home {un}cooking is warmly received by the whole family. Especially when it looks almost too good to eat. I mean, check out the beauty that is this Raw Citrus Beet Salad. Thinly sliced ruby beets mingling with bright citrus and a touch of mint make you think you're biting into summer with every crisp and delicious mouthful.

Can't Stop Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

"Can't stop won't stop" was the caption that accompanied my picture of what I'm pretty sure is the very best chocolate chip cookie ever over on Instagram. How do I know this? Because, not only am I a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, but I am also a woman who knows her limits, knows when to stop eating, will not overindulge in a sweet treat. Until now. You guys, I could not stop eating after 1/2 a cookie, not after 1 1/2 cookies, not 2... I had 3 cookies! Plus another before bed, you know, just to make sure they're still good when they're not fresh from the oven {they are!}.

NOT Chunky Monkey Ice Cream

So, if you have been following along, you have probably been eagerly awaiting yummy comfort food makeovers to indulge without the bulge. I get it, it's almost summer. And you know sugar is wrecking your health. And dairy... just no. Gluten, eh, sometimes but certainly not every day or ever if it's also refined, bleached and overly processed. Cravings happen, stress happens and it's important to have a plan when they suddenly and unexpectedly rear their ugly heads. This recipe is perfect for any of life's cruddy events... breakups, work stress, friend woes or because it's hot and you want ice cream. No excuse needed. Instead of breaking out the Ben & Jerry's, grab your food processor or blender and make your own creamy, delicious, soft-serve treat in minutes.
