Clean Beauty Edition with Amii Steele

First up, I'd like to introduce you to a passionate beauty expert and fellow Pure Barre lover who's also making a difference in the lives of children on the daily. Amii Steele is a child psychologist by day and an advocate for clean beauty and living a life of balance always. From starting her day with gratitude to her favorite protein-packed smoothie, I'm loving everything this wellness expert with a huge heart has to say about her daily routine.  


BEST WAY TO START YOUR DAY: Being grateful for life's blessings, completing a workout, and having a healthy, protein-packed breakfast.

FAVORITE WORKOUT: Pure Barre {at PBLKN} is absolutely my favorite workout of the moment. I do mix in spinning, walking and hiking outdoors and hot yoga. 

CRAZIEST THING YOU EVER DID FOR HEALTH: I've done a lot of cleanses, radical diets, workouts, and things I would not recommend in my younger years. I look at this as part of my wellness journey. Thankfully I've learned that balance in all areas of my life is my goal and what I strive for. 

CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT: Swell water bottle, it is seriously the best! It keeps water cold for 24 hours and beverages hot for 12 hours, plus it can hold an entire bottle of wine...this comes in handy for warm days out on the lake.


FOOD PHILOSOPHY: Everything in moderation...well, except meat, because I'm a vegetarian :-). I absolutely believe that the healthiest way we can view food is as nourishment and fuel for our body. That being said, sometimes you can allow for treats, because life is short and food is made to be enjoyed and shared with others. There's nothing like putting a lot of time into a homemade meal and sharing it with friends and family. 

GO-TO JUICE OR SMOOTHIE: The Double with a bit of cold pressed coffee from Clean Juice {RECIPE BELOW!} at Birkdale Village. It is delicious! Lately, I've been loving their fall menu and all that it has to offer...did someone say Fall Acai bowl and Pumpkin Smoothie? 


FOR GLOWING SKIN: Try a drop or two of Beautycounter's Lustro Face Oil mixed with your moisturizer for a brilliant glow that will last and make you look radiant. Speaking of radiance, boost your water intake and mix in a daily probiotic for glowing, healthy, hydrated skin from the inside out.

IN A PINCH: Use multitasking products! One of my favorite products is Beautycounter's caramel cheek pinch blusher, it can do triple duty as cheek, lip and eye color. A major bonus for when I'm running out the door from a workout to the hospital. 

ALWAYS IN MY BAG: Beautycounter lip sheer in twig and petal and gloss in Buff and my iPhone--mostly to look at photos of my friends and family, it's a great way to stay grounded and boost your mood any time of day.

{makes enough for one 16oz glass}

2/3 cup organic, unsweetened almond milk

splash of organic cold brew {~1/4 cup; for a stronger brew, reduce almond milk to 1/3-1/2 cup and add more coffee}

1 tbsp raw honey

1 tsp unsweetened almond butter

1 serving hemp protein

1/2 cup organic swiss chard

handful of organic spinach

1 small/medium frozen banana

1 cup ice

Blend on high for about 30 seconds in a high speed blender like the vitamix. Pour, sip and enjoy!
