A Detailed Look at my FIRST Juice Cleanse Experience

I've got a confession to make... I've never done a juice cleanse 🙈

Surprising right? I mean, even I'm a little surprised that it's taken me this long to hop on this juicy wellness trend. I have looked into it numerous times and follow juice shops from California to Sedona to across the pond and in Australia that make me really hyped up and ready to dive in to 3 days of liquid nourishment. Then, I wake up hungry and the urge quickly dissipates.

LOVE how SUJA juice has made organic affordable. Everyone should be able to afford good health!

So, when my sweet friend asked me to embark on a juice cleanse with her, I was all in! I couldn't wait to actually see what it would be like and finally be able to tell people what I think and if I would ever recommend one... a question I receive A LOT.

However, me being me, I wanted to curate my own set of juices because, well, I know what's best for my body. The "one size fits all" six pack of juices you get from the juice shop isn't my jam. We are not all the same, so why should our juice cleanse be? Also, if my cleanse included a light, plant-based dinner at the end of the day, then I was totally A-OK with that because I'm in the business of working with my body, not against it. Plus, I want to set a good example for my kiddos at the end of the day, and to me, I feel good showing them a mommy who eats.

So, after all the rambling, here goes my first juicy cleanse experience diary here:

WAKE-UP: 4:30am. Drink full glass of room temperature water and down my Inner-eco probiotic shot. Wait 30 minutes. Drink my organic cold brew coffee with splash of organic unsweetened vanilla almond milk <---- 4:30 is EARLY.

7:30am. Big mug of warm water with 1/2 lime juice squeezed in.

8:30. Began feeling hungry. Drank a tall glass of water, made a conscious effort to stop looking at food porn on instagram {I'm looking at you vegan salted caramel filled chocolate candy egg} and hopped in the shower.

9:15am. Cracked open my first juice. Uber greens from Suja. It tasted so fresh and delicious. Just what my body needed. I drank slowly and "chewed" my juice to get the saliva flowing and digestion started so it didn't hit my stomach like a brick.

10:17am. Feeling thirsty and starving. Uhhh... why am I doing this again?! Food is good. Texting Jamie to see how it's going for her. Luckily baby girl's doctor appointment is coming up in 30 minutes... I need the distraction. Packed up my 2nd juice and a turmeric supplement to take with me.

12pm. 2nd juice. Suja Carrot Crush + Turmeric supplement. So good! I was so hungry when I had this juice and had to refrain myself from chugging it. Next stop, Target.

Loved this orange juice from Suja with MegaFood's Daily Turmeric nutrient booster powder. So delicious and perfect mid-day pick me up.

1:30pm. Found these awesome new probiotic waters from Suja at Target and with a coupon, they were only $1.99. I absolutely love the ginger and it was a great hydrating option to tie me over until my next juice.

Probiotics are perfect for cleansing! And ginger is great for digestion. Love!

2pm. Time for my next juice. But, I'm home. Baby girl is asleep. This is when I would normally make myself a big, beautiful salad for lunch to enjoy in peace. It was VERY hard not falling into my same routine and make a salad. So, I quickly texted Jamie again and cracked open my 3rd juice of the day. A green one with jalapeno because I love spicy and I love green. It was AMAZING. I enjoyed it while reading some of my book club book, "The Rosie Project." However, I decided after 10 minutes that I wanted to fit in a workout while baby girl was sleeping, so I saved half of my juice for later, rolled out my yoga mat and turned on my Tracy Anderson Post-Pregnancy DVD. It was a bit more challenging than usual as I felt quite fatigued. But, I completed it and felt good. Uh-oh, baby girl is awake...

3pm. Made baby girl some food. Luckily, I don't like what she's having so it doesn't make me want to sneak any. However, I have a headache and feel dizzy and faint. Perfect time to make my hemp matcha milk... 3 tablespoons hemp seeds, 1 cup of water, big pinch of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ashwagandha {anxiety soother}, 1 tsp matcha {caffeine without the crash}, 1 heaping teaspoon  {pretty skin}, couple drops of vanilla stevia. I drank this probably too quickly and still feel soooo hungry. Now, Caleb is home from school.

4pm. Not feeling up to playing with the kiddos, so drink the other 1/2 of my jalapeno green juice to hopefully get some energy.

Mmmm mmm good. Jalapeño + green juice = Happiness

5pm. Ok, juice til dinner it is. I'm eating carrots. I probably inhaled at least 6.

6pm. Hubby will be missing dinner so I make the kiddos quesadillas and I make a large, beautiful salad that totally hit the spot. Still have a slight hunger in my belly, but satisfied enough to just drink tea the rest of the night and get some sleep.

Yum! Look at all that raw, veggie goodness. Juicing 'til dinner is awesome sauce.

CONCLUSION. It really wasn't as bad during the day as I thought it would be. Every time I started getting hungry, it was almost time for my next juice. The juices tasted amazing and I loved feeling lighter. I was certain by the end of the night that I would never do another juice cleanse again though because I saw no reason not to eat food when I'm hungry.

Buuuuuttttt... by the next morning, I really felt awesome. I woke up hungry and ate a banana and had my coffee. But, the entire day, I felt lighter and had more energy. My stomach stayed flat, so no bloating. I felt really really good. This really good feeling lasted for at least 3 days too. Therefore, I am tempted to do this juice til dinner plan once a week?! Seems like a perfect new Monday ritual to get the week started off feeling nice, light and energized. Hopefully in the future, my budget will allow fresh pressed juices from Clean Juice because fresher and local is ALWAYS better :)
